Authorities also held New Year's celebrations in various parts of China.

Trump seems to be focusing on revitalizing the domestic economy ahead of the launch of the second Trump term, why?

Beijing correspondent Kang Jeong-gyu reports.

"3, 2, 1! Happy New Year!"

Firecrackers featuring the number 2025 will explode along with the countdown to the Harbin Ice and Snow Festival in northeastern China.

In the capital Beijing suburb, a large-scale New Year's celebration was held led by authorities, including Tianjin and Hebei.

Drone shows, fireworks, and concerts were also held in Shanghai and other parts of China.

Although controls remained in Nanjing and elsewhere, overall, they changed from last year's reluctance to gather crowds.

It is not irrelevant to the authorities' policy to boost domestic demand, but the economic recovery trend is still unstable and slow.

[Beijing resident: It was a bit difficult last year. I think I tasted all the joy, anger, sorrow and pleasure.]

[Beijing resident: I hope trade between China and the United States will be smooth in the new year.]

To make matters worse, the second Trump administration, which declared a 60% tariff bomb on Chinese goods, will be launched on the 20th.

In other words, tariff barriers will be established in the United States, which will account for $500 billion in 2023 and 15% of China's total exports.

Some analysts say that if the trade war resumes, China's economic growth rate, which is currently around 5%, will fall by 2%p.

Domestic demand is the only way to try self-rescue measures among domestic demand, investment (FDI), and exports, which are the trichomes of the economy.

[Xi Jinping / Chinese President (New Year's address): There is a challenge to the uncertainty of the external environment. However, this can be overcome through effort.

However, as Trump advocates "isolationist" diplomacy, China's position on the international political stage may be wider in the new year.
