[Interview] "Season 3 of 'Squid Game' is a shock beyond imagination"...Yang Dong-geun's confidence.

"No matter what you speculate about Season 3, Hwang Dong-hyuk has created an unconventional work that will shock you more than you can imagine. I have so much confidence in season three that I can't wait to see it."

Actor Yang Dong-geun, who showed an impressive performance through the second season of "Squid Game," which caused syndromes around the world, predicted season 3 along with his impressions of appearing in the work.

'Squid Game' is the most popular film of all time on Netflix, depicting the process of people who participate in a mysterious survival game with a prize money of 45.6 billion won risking their lives to enter the game to become the winner.

Season 2, which came off the veil on the 26th of last month, tells the story of Sung Ki-hoon (Lee Jung-jae), the winner of the last game, vowing revenge on the game's architect and jumping into survival once again. The work is once again heating up the world, ranking No. 1 in the top 10 global Netflix series in 93 countries within two days of its release. In the

play, Yang Dong-geun plays No. 007 "Yongsik" who participated in the game to pay off his gambling debt, and he has been drawing favorable reviews from viewers around the world by playing his mother Geum-ja (Kang Ae-sim) and struggling to survive a death match.

YTN held an interview with Yang Dong-geun on the 6th and discussed various stories related to the work.

Q. Since the second season was released, good results have been made globally, how do you feel?

Yang Dong-geun: I was watching overseas reactions and it was amazing. I'm also happy and happy that people are incredibly surprised, excited, and showing unexpected reactions. Since filming is a hard and arduous task, it was an atmosphere where I had to continue to strengthen my mind rather than being happy. But now I'm enjoying myself as if I'm popping champagne. Instagram followers also suddenly increased by 100,000, realizing, 'Oh, I really appeared in 'Squid Game'.

Q. Didn't the global syndrome and popularity that the first season caused put pressure on the selection of the work?

Yang Dong-geun: Apart from the popularity of the work, the character Yongsik was a person I really didn't want to meet as an actor. I've been acting since childhood, especially the process of having to act crying was so hard and painful that I was traumatized.

It is really difficult to act with emotions in front of numerous staff and actors in the 100th stage of acting. However, it was so difficult for Yongsik to feel that he had to express such sad feelings and tears in his relationship with his mother. This time, he suffered from body aches until the day before filming and struggled in agony.

But I have three children, and I have a role to play as a breadwinner, as a father and as an actor. Also, it happened to be a great opportunity called "Squid Game", so I had to make it somehow.

Q. It was difficult, but I overcame the trauma on my own, and I'm also curious about how it was after acting.

Yang Dong-geun: Above all, I am very grateful to Kang Ae-sim. The scene was not made by myself, but it was a god made by us, mother and son. In particular, it can be said that it was completed thanks to the director's additional direction after seeing the chemistry, including the affection that the senior showed me outside the scene.

In fact, I don't believe in myself, and I always think I'm not good enough. Especially I don't think I can be perfect alone. Therefore, I don't care much even if I'm not good enough or not good enough. This is because there is a mother (played by Kang Ae-sim), so the scene becomes richer and there is faith from the director. I think that many people who watch the work gather here to make the whole work perfect.

Q. The story of Yongsik and Geumja's mother and son continues in season 3. What should I look forward to?

Yang Dong-geun: There was an unusual time when 'Squid Game' Season 2 was invited to the Golden Globe Awards even before it was released. However, I think the Golden Globe was a little hasty.(laughs) Because in season 3, my mom and I play a bigger role. Whatever speculation you make about season 3, director Hwang Dong-hyuk made an unconventional work that shocked you beyond your imagination. I have so much confidence in season 3 that I can't wait to see it.

Director Hwang Dong-hyuk felt again that he was a master and a genius. Next year, it will be 40 years since he debuted as an actor. Since there will be Golden Globe and Emmy Awards next year, we will try to have great aspirations through Season 3 of "Squid Game".

It's never been before, and I feel like there's a big wave that I wonder if there will be another one in the future. This year, when season 3 is released, I want to enjoy the big waves as much as I can.
