People's Power Kwon Young-se, chairman of the emergency committee, expressed concern that handcuffing and dragging President Yoon Suk Yeol from his official residence would greatly reduce his national dignity.
Chairman Kwon met with Monk Jinwoo, the general secretary of the Jogye Order, at Jogye Temple in Jongno-gu, Seoul, and said, "The purpose of the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit and the police is not to reveal the allegations of a presidential rebellion through investigation, but to risk their lives on arrest."
The president then said he would comply with the arrest warrant, and the people's power also conceded that he would proactively consider the special prosecutor, so he stressed that it would be better to resolve it in a compromise and peaceful way instead of pushing the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit or the opposition party too hard.
In response, Monk Jin-woo said, "Politicians have their own wants and are so sharply divided that they cannot yield," and advised that the representatives of the ruling, opposition, and political parties should negotiate until they reach a compromise on the issue of the presidential residence and the special prosecution.
