Unification Minister Kim Young-ho met with Rosemary DiCarlo, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations Office for Political Affairs and Peacebuilding, to discuss the situation on the Korean Peninsula and ways to cooperate between the two sides.
At the meeting, Minister Kim explained the situation on the Korean Peninsula, including North Korea's recent dispatch of troops to Russia and the provocation of intercontinental ballistic missiles, and strongly condemned North Korea's nuclear and missile development, illegal military cooperation, and human rights suppression.
He also explained the government's "August 15 Unification Doctrine" and emphasized that he would make consistent efforts to realize the unification of the Korean Peninsula of freedom, peace and prosperity against North Korea's anti-unification and treasonous two-state theories.
According to the Ministry of Unification, Deputy Secretary-General DiCarlo expressed deep concern over North Korea's dispatch of troops to Russia and its hostile claims of two countries, sympathizing with and supporting the South Korean government's unification and North Korea policies.
