The Democratic Leaders' Meeting of Autonomous Decentralization, consisting of basic members of the Democratic Party of Korea and heads of local governments, held a press conference and urged the court to acquit Lee Jae-myung.
They claimed that Lee has already been raided hundreds of times and appears in court three or four times a week, effectively serving as a representative under a statutory pension.
Hwang Myung-sun, a standing advisor to the group, stressed that he wants the judiciary to show that the Republic of Korea is alive against the prosecution's dictatorship.
