Sung Seung-min, who became the first Asian female modern pentathlon athlete to win a medal at the Paris Olympics, ranked first in the national team selection contest for the new season.

Sung Seung-min took first place in the women's final of the modern pentathlon with a total of 1,420 points.

Sung Seung-min became the first Korean female athlete to win the individual title at the world championships in June, and won a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics, becoming the first Asian female athlete to reach the Olympic podium.

At the end of the Paris Olympics, horse riding disappeared and obstacle events were included in the modern pentathlon.
