SK Engineering & Construction has won a deal to build a natural gas liquefaction plant in the United States.
SK E&C and its U.S. joint-venture partner Kellogg Brown & Root have won the 4.35 billion dollar deal to build an eight-MTPA (million tonnes per annum) gas liquefaction plant near Lake Charles in Louisiana. It's the first time a Korean contractor has nabbed a gas liquefaction plant deal overseas.
SK E&C has a 30 percent stake worth 1.3 billion dollars in the Louisiana project, with KBR holding the remainder.
Construction is set to kick-off in April and is to be completed in 2020, according to SK.
