ABC, a U.S. terrestrial broadcaster that has been sued for defamation by U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, has decided to pay $15 million in settlement.
According to foreign media such as the Associated Press, ABC News and anchor George Steffernopoulus have decided to pay $15 million and 21.5 billion won in our money to Trump's presidential foundation and museum in exchange for the closing of the lawsuit.
In addition, the plaintiff will pay $1 million (1.4 billion won) in litigation costs, and will issue an apology saying, "I regret the remarks made by Steffer NoPullers in an interview with Representative Nancy Mace about former President Trump."
Trump has claimed that celebrity journalist George Steffernopoulus, the host of ABC's "This Week," defamed him by spreading false information on the show in March.
Steffernopoulus interviewed Mace, a rape victim, and mentioned several times that former President Trump was convicted of "rape."
In response, Trump filed a lawsuit, saying that only sexual harassment charges, not rape, were found in the trial.
