Skater Choi Min-Jeong defends her world short track title at home

South Korea's Choi Min-Jeong has defended her overall events title at the International Skating Union World Short Track Speed Skating Championships.

Choi finished first among all female skaters with 66 points recorded through the 500m, 1,000m, 1,500m and 3,000 super final races of the championships that were staged on Saturday and Sunday at Mokdong Ice Rink in Seoul.

Marianne St-Gelais of Canada finished second with 63 points, followed by Elise Christie of Britain with 47 points.

Choi is the first South Korean repeat world champion titleholder in the short track field since Jin Sun-Yu retained the crown for three years from 2005.
