S.Korea to take on Iraq in Asian Cup semifinal match

The men's national football squad will take on Iraq in Sydney in the Asian Cup semifinals at 6PM (Korea Time, 0900 GMT) today (Monday).

Experts say Head Coach Uli Stielike's injury-riddled squad will heavily rely on German-based striker Son Heung-Min, who netted two goals for his team's 2-0 quarterfinal victory over Uzbekistan last week.

They also expect that captain Ki Sung-Yeung, another Budesliga player, would pull his weight in the upcoming match.

South Korea is trying to wrest the crown of the Asian Cup for the first time since 1960.

Although the South Korean delegation overwhelmed the Iraqi team in the previous records of competition, the Koreans have the bitter memory of losing to Iraq in the penalty shoot-out in the semifinals in 2007.
