Twins win right to negotiate with slugger Park Byung-Ho

Major League Baseball's Minnesota Twins have won the negotiating rights to South Korean slugger Park Byong-Ho.

The Twins put in the highest bid, a reported 12.85 million dollars, for a 30-day exclusive negotiating period to sign the power hitting first baseman, now part of the Nexen Heroes of the South Korean league.

Park led South Korea's pro-baseball league this year with 53 home runs and 146 RBIs in 140 games, while hitting .343.

The Twins fell short of winning the World Series this year, losing to the Kansas City Royals, but were the World Series champions in 1924, 1987 and 1991.
