S.Korean footballers pound Laos 8-0 in World Cup qualifier

South Korea's national football squad trashed its Laos counterpart 8-0 in a qualifying match for the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals.

In the completely one-sided match staged yesterday (Thursday) at Hwaseong Sports Complex Main Stadium in the country's western city of Hwaseong, English Premier League's new-comer Son Heung-Min presented the 30,000 fans in the audience with a hat trick, encouraging his teammates to rout the diffident visitors from Laos.

The players of the 174th-ranked Laos team barely touched the ball throughout the match.

South Korea has now succeeded in both of their matches in the second round of the Asian qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup in Russia. It beat Myanmar 2-0 in June.

Team Korea, led by German coach Ulrich Stielike, is moving on to Lebanon today (Friday) for another qualifier scheduled for next Tuesday.
